Gemstone Cut

Gemstone Cut

Cutting standards are different for gemstones than for diamonds. The goal in gemstone cutting is to capture the maximum brilliance and color, which allows some deviation from hard geometrical standards. In other words, overall beauty is what matters most and a talented gemstone cutter knows how to unlock that value. To be sure, fine cuts exhibit overall symmetry and proportion, however, attractive color and beauty are the primary goal. For example, were a sapphire strictly cut to bulk up its size, the resulting gemstone might display too dark in color or show streaks, thereby decreasing its beauty and overall value. At Karat, our gemstones are hand-select, offering only the finest in beauty.
